Keep On Truckin’ - Part I
Wednesday, March 11, 2009 14:08
This week we will look at “failure” and how some well known people have handled their “failure”.
Most of us are familiar with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls of the 80’s and 90’s. Michael and his Bulls dominated basketball during that era winning 6 championships.
Some may think that Michael Jordan had a natural talent and was an amazing basketball player his entire life. Although he is Michael Jordan, he is still human and had his share of struggle. We tend to look at our hero’s as superhuman, without flaw. Although Michael had an extremely successful career that does not mean he did not have his share of “failures”.
I chose to take a lesson from Michael and view my “failures” as a necessary part of life to reach our end goal. These “failures” shape our character and how we handle adversity.

Even the best fail at some point. Sports is a great example of that. It’s also a great example of the strength of a team. I remember Jordan failing with the White Sox minor league baseball team then struggling in his returning to basketball before winning again. Tenacity got him back on top. An important lesson.

That’s a great point, I forgot about his time in baseball and how it did not pan out the way he wanted it to. You are absolutely right, tenacity and his focus on being true to himself got him back on top. He certainly could have ridden his baseball situation into a long and hard downward spiral, but it appears that is just not in his make up.
